JOB SUMMARY

Requires the ability to learn and follow job instructions and, or procedures. Performs a variety of routine, limited-scope tasks that support office administrative processes, following specific and detailed processes and under direct supervision.  May include contact with the public.  This position is largely governed by standardized processes.  Situations outside the received instructions or procedures are consulted with the supervisor to determine or seek the solution.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Inspect cars for the purpose of qualifying damage and repair cost.
  • Negotiate repair and parts costs with suppliers, garages and body and mechanical workshops.
  • Advise the adjusters on the relationship between the observed damage and the accident.
    Write appraisal reports.
  • Prepare reports or other reports related to the area, as required.
  • Other tasks related to the position.

EDUCATION

  • Associate's Degree

EXPERIENCE

  • Associate's Degree or 60-64 college credits from an Accredited Institution, with one (1) to three (3) years of experience as an appraiser, tinker or mechanic.  Or instead, High School Diploma with 3 to 5 years as an appraiser, auto body technician or mechanic.
  • Must have experience with the Mitchell system.
  • Member of the College of Automotive Technicians and Mechanics of Puerto Rico, preferably.
