JOB SUMMARY

Will help lead the modernization and growth of Triple-S Vida’s individual life and annuity portfolio. The role will be primarily responsible for product design, pricing, profitability analysis, competitive positioning, and implementation support for individual life and annuity products. The position will also play a key role in evaluating and improving individual underwriting strategy and processes. This role will partner closely with the VP of Product and Actuarial, Underwriting, Operations, Finance, Investments, Distribution, Marketing, Technology, and external actuarial resources to move product initiatives from concept through launch and ongoing performance management. The role will provide secondary support for valuation and actuarial modeling activities as needed while the company expands its internal actuarial capabilities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Lead and support individual life and annuity product-development initiatives, with initial emphasis on term life portfolio modernization.
  • Develop, review, and enhance actuarial pricing models, assumptions, sensitivities, and profitability metrics used to evaluate product economics, competitiveness, capital needs, and expected returns.
  • Translate actuarial analysis into practical product recommendations, including product design, rate structure, benefit features, target markets, distribution considerations, and implementation requirements.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Product, Underwriting, Operations, Finance, Investments, Distribution, Marketing, Technology, and external actuarial resources to move product initiatives from concept through filing, implementation, launch, and post-launch monitoring.
  • Evaluate the existing individual life product portfolio and recommend redesign, repricing, modernization, or retirement actions based on profitability, competitiveness, strategic fit, and target-market needs.
  • Support underwriting modernization efforts by working with underwriting leadership to evaluate guidelines, workflows, service standards, simplified underwriting opportunities, straight-through processing, automation, and faster decisioning.
  • Perform market and competitive analysis to identify product gaps, customer and distributor needs, and opportunities to strengthen Triple-S Vida’s position in Puerto Rico and support future expansion into Florida and Texas.
  • Establish and maintain product-development documentation, governance, peer review, decision logs, model controls, and implementation tracking to improve accountability and reduce execution risk.
  • Monitor product performance after launch through sales, persistency, profitability, underwriting, and operational metrics; identify emerging issues and recommend corrective actions.
  • Provide secondary support for individual life and annuity valuation, reserve analysis, GGY AXIS modeling, assumption review, and other actuarial work as business needs require.
  • Prepare clear recommendations and presentations for senior management regarding pricing, product design, underwriting strategy, implementation readiness, and product performance.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial or Mathematics

EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Finance, or a related field. Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) preferred; equivalent actuarial progress and directly relevant experience may be considered. Five or more years of relevant actuarial experience in individual life and/or annuity pricing, product development, or related actuarial functions. Three to five years of meaningful GGY AXIS experience is strongly preferred. Experience with individual life product design, fixed annuity or MYGA pricing, profitability testing, underwriting strategy, and cross-functional product development is preferred. Experience supporting valuation or reserve analysis is also desirable.
  • Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA). Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA) preferred.
