JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for processing samples, executing tests, and reporting results. Only perform tests authorized by the laboratory director, in accordance with the degree of skill and in accordance with the education, training and experiences and technical skills.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Follow laboratory procedure instructions for handling and analyzing tests, reporting, and maintaining test results to patients.
- Maintain records that demonstrate that samples are processed in the same way as those from patients.
- Comply with all laboratory quality control principles; comment on all quality control activities, instrument calibrations and procedures, as well as the maintenance carried out.
- Follow established policies and procedures whenever testing systems are not within established acceptable performance levels.
- Identify problems that may adversely affect the performance of tests or the reporting of test results and correct the problems or immediately notify the general supervisor, or the principal.
- Document all corrective actions taken when the test system deviates from the performance specifications established by the institution.
- Available to work during weekends.
EDUCATION
- Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technologist or Science
EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Sciences and/or Arts with 1 to 3 years of experience in functions related to the position.
- Current license in Medical Technology from an accredited School of Medical Technology. License issued by the Board of Examiners of Medical Technologists of Puerto Rico.
- Valid Professional Registration Certificate. Active member of the College of Medical Technologists of Puerto Rico.
