JOB SUMMARY

Perform independently tasks guided by policies and procedures.  Select the best methodology to achieve the identified results in a work plan or project.  Responsible to collect factual information, perform analysis and make recommendations to be used by others to a higher hierarchical level.  Analyzes, reconciles, and adjust general ledger accounts and prepares necessary reports that represent accurately the corporation’s financial position.  Perform complex tasks related to the accounting cycle and financial processes.  Learn different employee benefits and payroll policies for proper account analysis and posting of payments.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Ensures sound payroll controls are maintained and followed in compliance with existing internal/external governance controls.
  • Supports year end reconciliations and fillings through data analysis and reporting.
  • Interprets, implements and maintains policies and procedures pertaining to payroll. Ensures that all transactions are in compliance with state and federal payroll regulations, union agreements and/or Board guidelines.
  • Completes quarterly and annual government filings by auditing employee data, compiling data, and making submissions.
  • Works closely with the finance team to provide payroll reports for posting to the GL, manage billings for portfolio companies and various reconciliations
  • Inspecting automated system output such as registers and standard reports, determining and correcting out-of-balance conditions.
  • Audit the payroll to ensure accuracy of data. Corrects processing errors prior to payroll production.
  • Reviews, audits and updates records of various types of transactions including employee withholding, deferred compensation, union dues deductions and garnishments and levies.
  • Maintains rates in Workday for benefit plans for proper withholding for payroll.
  • May provide work direction to IT developers for updates to Workday related to payroll and benefits.
  • Assists in identifying, developing, implementing and supporting process improvements within a shared services team.
  • Partners with shared service groups to ensure coordination of work, best practice and information sharing, problem resolution, and business process improvement.
  • Develop and maintain detailed workflow documentation of the standard shared services procedures.
  • Provides information as requested to employees, supervisors, outside agencies, internal and external auditors or other personnel by referring to policies, rules, regulations or procedures or by researching files for information.
  • Assists payroll supervisor with special projects as assigned such as payroll and human resources due diligence requirements for M&A.
  • Assists in preparing budgets, projections, and special reports for senior management in relation to payroll, compensation, attrition, benefits, and other human resources related data and metrics.
  • Performs other duties as assigned, including participating on special projects. Other tasks as assigned by the Management, and which are essential to the position.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration

EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a major in Accounting, Finance or Human Resources, preferably, with three (3) to five (5) years of experience in a computerized accounting environment with payroll functions, preferably in the Health Insurance Industry.
